Meet Lex
Hey there, I am Alexa Pizzarello, RD, CDN (she/her) and the owner of Veg RD Nutrition, LLC.
I thrive on helping adults get a grip on their health by enhancing their nutrition, embrace intuitive eating principles and learn to trust themselves around food.
I simply want to help you feel better.
I love helping other plant-based eaters (or those curious/transitioning) find balance and strengthen their nutrition. I also help utilize nutrition for preventing and managing common heart health issues using a plant-forward approach.
I think it’s more important to take a slow and steady approach to your nutrition goals versus throwing you a meal plan and expecting you to actually understand how food works. I want you to find peace with your body and help you realize that the less you obsess over food, the more control you actually have in your life.
Everyone has unique health goals and different ideas of what ‘wellness’ means for them. I am here to provide individualized care and attention to help you reach your highest potential.
As for me…
I live in Staten Island, NY and enjoy being in the city as well as the mountains upstate. I absolutely adore animals, kayaking, berries, exploring new small towns, eating at awesome vegan restaurants here in NYC, cooking yummy plant-based meals and tending to my vegetable garden.
Ever since I was a young kid I struggled with my body and food. I would turn to food as a source of comfort and binge until I was sick. This became a pattern for a long time and it led me to completely feel out of control, feel physically horrible and riddled with shame. This complimented some pretty bad (really bad) decisions I made in my teenage years until I truly hit a rock bottom.
In my early 20s, I had to get it together and essentially rebuild myself from the ground up. This is when I discovered yoga, started strength training, dived into nutrition research, began transitioning into a vegan/plant-based lifestyle and became certified as a Holistic Health and Nutrition Practitioner.
Although I learned a tremendous amount from ancient Eastern modalities of healing and cherish those lessons, I craved nutrition science and decided to go back to school and become a registered dietitian. Little did I know how strenuous that path would be, but after all these years, I’m glad I did it. As a RD, licensed in NY State, I am able to provide clients with down-to-earth nutrition counseling to help them find their way too.
